Correspondence, chiefly 1876-1909, on the Civil war, especially events in Virginia, on Reconstruction, state and national politics and government, foreign affairs, and economic questions, from over 150 men, including ex-officers of the Confederate Army. Includes some incomplete copies of reports from Robert D. Johnston relative to the operations of his brigade in the Battle of Belle Grove or Cedar Creek and the Battle of the Wilderness, and a parole certificate from Ulysses S. Grant.
